I have been exploring the symbolism of the lotus for consciousness. At the time this piece came forth, I was illustrating the various parts of the brain and their functions for a client. Our habits, patterns, abilities and choices are controlled by the brain, thus it controls our ability to evolve. But when consiousness drives the brain it is easier to make clearer choices.
